Mike I understand your thoughts concerning long term holds. Been there myself many times. We've discussed this beyond all on the SD thread long ago. However, the problem with long term holds is that you've got to be damn sure you've picked the right stock. I for one wouldn't be holding anything long except for gold right now. I missed CSCO and HD at their lows and I'm bummed about that, but I'm sure as hell not going to chase them now.

If you write Calls on your long term holds, in this market since the power of the big caps is astounding, your call is likely to be excercized, then you have to either pay tax or scramble to cover at a higher price, or roll forward.
I think you do nothing with long term holds, and write cc's on any recent longs( last 12 months).
Just my 2 cents.
