Daniel, I understand the overall climate of the election favored Democrats. However, the fact is your TRUTH was not a TRUTH. The headlines could have read...

"After 40 years of Democratic rule for the third time in a row Republicans hold majority positions in the House and Senate"

or

"Althought the economy is strong with a Democratic President, they fail to regain control of the House and Senate"

So what you're really saying is that TRUTH is defined by media and Republican expectations?? :-)

It was a disappointing election for me, I don't look forward to the President threatening and then vetoing the following items:

1. Legislation preventing abortions while the fetus is being born.
2. Term limits.
3. Balanced budget amendment.
4. Lower taxes, lower spending.
5. Privatizing the social security system.
6. Completely changing the tax system toward a flat or consumption tax.
7. More real parental control over our childrens educational choices.

You and your Democratic lovers can continue to fight these area's of change. You can be happy that the election has postponed them a few more years. But the fact is, just like in the Soviet Union where it took a long time to break down the forces of socialism. These walls will fall. History is on the Republicans side. When they do fall, the President or Dick Gephard can take all the credit they want. As long as they happen I really don't care who gets the political credit.

Every day Democrats are sounding more and more like Republicans. They and people like yourself, are the ones actually getting the message. It doesn't matter who you believe opened your mind to these ideas.

Fighting and wishing the above list would just go away so we can go back to the tax and spend days of Democratic control of both houses, will never win back the Congress for Democrats. If the election showed us anything, it was that reality. The taxpayers are fed up with waste in government programs invented and supported by the Democrats. If they have to, the people will simply pass Levy after Levy until all the anti change Democrats are rendered mute.

One day we may actually hear a Democrat say lower taxes is a good idea. :-)

I will simply quietly smile when we do.

Michael

Daniel, I don't blame you for not wanting to defend your TRUTH. :-)

Now that you have accepted (by completely ignoring the subject)how wrong your TRUTH is, I wonder if you are ready to accept that the Democratic party is really lost and floundering around for any coherent vision? That is, Besides the "Ken Starr is evil whine" vision thing. Or the "Republicans are starving our elderly and children whine" vision thing. :-)

The Socialist government solutions fit all mentality of your party is (in the next 20 years) going be swept away and replaced by a more humane Republican/Libertarian/Independent mentality which goes like this...

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime".

Democratic party faithful like yourself have yet to figure out this TRUTH. :-)
