..although CE is commonly thought to be clunky, perhaps Q! could streamline it,...

CE is huge compared with RTOS's commonly used in wireless devices.
However - this doesn't matter in devices like the PDQ, which is more like a Palm pilot than a 'phone, and memory constraints are not an issue.

A big plus for CE is the Windoze 'look and feel', a large software library, and an army of application programmers.

As for MSFT allowing QCOM (or anyone else) streamlining CE.
I guess that will happen when QCOM gives away CDMA IPR to ERICY...
