"Microsoft demolished the profit margins of PC manufacturers and turned them into commodity businesses. Now this spawn of satan is trying to do the same to the mobile telecom biz... weasel its way into software dominance, then turn that position into a noose around the manufacturers necks. Basically all of the mobile manufacturers will fight this tooth and nail."

Great isn't it! That's what competition is for - cut prices, improve quality and functionality. Yep, Microsoft and The Q! will do the same to the mobile telecom biz. Yipppeeeee!!

"Qualcomm is once again on a crash course with the rest of the industry." As Irwin says, "The fun is just beginning!" Great!

Tero, all business competition is inherently hostile. You shouldn't pretend that it is all nice nice friendly cuddly warms. It isn't. It is more like reindeer in the rutting season. A lot of clashing of antlers, strutting and trying to impress the customers. You should know about that or did all the reindeer die from Chernobyl's radioactive contamination of moss?

Defeat? Oracle wants nothing less than 100% compatibility with every component of the enterprise. As one who is painfully aware of what NT does to Oracle, I don't consider Sun Microsystems to be something you can wisely comment on.

Oracle, PalmOS, and WinCE.

On another subject, I have not seen any mention of EPOCH or SYMBIAN in the ETSI UMTS specs. Is this like assuming all Intel PC's will not only be running NT but have Microsoft Word on them?
