Whoopee, now we have old wives tales about checking your fence post to go along with the new short reality of whatever I say is true and I don't have to support it because I know I am right. Not only that, but anyone who doesn't believe me is a fool. Extreme is right, extreme ego. Ha, Ha.

You don't have to prove anything to me, Mama. It's just that you made a statement and indicated that there was some research to back it up. Turns out that wasn't quite, uh, accurate and you believe what you do about shorts because, well, that's what you believe. Passive voice (like, "it was decided") is usually used when responsibility (like WHO decided) is obscure.

It happens that it was hobos, not con artists, that used to mark fences and barns with symbols that indicated things like "Kind lady lives here" or "Vicious dog" for the next hobo. Just like everything else, you got it just a little wrong.

Short selling is an inherently short term trade by it's (sic) very nature"

I stand behind the above statement, and would suggest that if you're going to go the petty route of picking on a poster's grammer, that you at least do it when an error occurs. 'it's' is perfectly correct in the above usage. Look up the proper use of posessives in your English textbook.

Sorry, Barb: columbia.edu

"The pronominal possessives hers, its, theirs, yours, and oneself have no apostrophe."

HEB will no doubt gap up on this revelation. <g>
