Same thing could be said for C++ years ago. But I think Java will become a new language. People will program in Java just like C++ to generate platform specific executables with the added benefit that the program MAY be ported with ease to generate platform independent bytecode.

power/speed/security/tools will come with time.

Mike, I'm losing it.
