George : I was one of those who believed that 4500-5000 was a distinct possibility. So, I don't scoff at anyone who misreads the market. What is important, however, is (1) to try and be impartial (2) recognise one's misassessment as quickly as possible (3) not be committed to a particular bullish or bearish mind-set (4) over the years, especially living in South Africa, I have learned that to be a successful investor it is ESSENTIAL to be confident in the future --- however bleak it may appear. And, to put one's money where one's mouth is!
