Off the deep end? Gee, that's a substantial argument.VBG! My point clearly was whether or not your statement about the inaction of private fire departments had any historical truth behind it- it might indeed. But we still don't know, I guess.
Human beings working in such a fire department would be hard pressed to sleep at night- and if there IS any truth in your statement, apparently the situation didn't last long. What can I say, we are basically good!
Deep end? I assumed you'd know the history behind your statement. I assumed I was gonna hear it but good. Ranting about my personal presence at an earthquake site and speculating on the viability of a private fire dept. to handle a job doesn't advance your argument. The value of freedom in America is inestimable. I gave a couple out of a zillion examples of why freedom works. It's not always obvious why it does- it takes some honest thought on factual results to realize it.
And hey, I've sided with Clinton many times-probably when you wouldn't have, however. But why should a President get away with slandering American women whom he has been in Contact with, just because he thinks it will save his political ass? Obviously if he fessed up to it all he'd be forgiven...in fact, even judges let perjury go because the in the end the guilty admit to their lies. Our president failed that test.
