This is the first web page I have seen that takes you through the entire process of the transport of diamonds to the surface. It shows the whole process in terms anyone can understand with a little research.

I would assume that with a cone sheet theory the process would be much the same but would strike a fault system so that the tuff ring, crater ring, and crater facies would not be present rather the granite (in this case) would be lifted along stress points which are concentric dipping rings ( take a piece of wax and bend it to get a simple example) created by either an earthquake or a change in pressure on the granite sheet from above or below. teevee's comments on the uppermost portion would be appreciated.
