I use a program called "Traders Edge" to keep all my trades in as well as keeping all my receipts, with the program I can print out what my Capital Gains /Losses are and I forward this along with my Tax Return, it takes some time to get it set up but it's a no-brainer and a heck of alot easier come tax time.
About the time frame on going back on your Capital Gains I beleive that it is three years but if you go to Revenue Canada's webb page you can look/download the information. Fred
