I am not going to make an excuse for the earnings, however, I think a couple thinks need to be pointed out. First, the earnings were better than everyone expected. That is why the stock bounced with the release of the earnings. Most people expected less or even a loss. Second, as stated in the earnings press release and in the Turcu release Jmar has been hiring a lot of scientists. When you take into account the number of new scientists hired you need to realize that each one accounts for about 1/3 to 1/2 of a penny in earnings, depending upon the scientists qualifications. Third, Jmar has been continually increasing the level of spending on ramp to production products that excludes XRL.

Two years ago Jmar spent approx. 850,000 on non-XRL ramp up. Last year they spent 1.6 million and are on their was to spending 2.5 to 3.0 million this year for R&D not associated with government contract related research. (Source is Jmar's filings and Marketguide research)

Richard, finally something I completely agree with you on. I was hoping Elizabeth Dole would have run instead of Bob Dole for President, rumor in Washington is that she is going to decide soon about running for the 2000 election.
