Montreal Exchange Trading activity for October 1998
MONTREAL, Nov. 5 /CNW/ - In October 1998, the number of shares traded was
284.6 million for a value of $4.25 billion, representing respective increases
of 1.58% and 3.3% compared to the previous month. Total volume traded for the
year is 2.87 billion shares for a value of $47.2 billion, which represent
respective decreases of 21.46% and 9.19% over the same period in 1997.
Volume on stock options was 126,277 contracts in October, an increase of
19.14% compared to September 1998. Year-to-date number of contracts traded is
at 1,161,527, an increase of 40,89% compared to the same period in 1997.
The number of contracts traded on the Futures market for the month
reached 601,415, a decrease of 44.83% over September 1999. Year-to-date
volume stands at 7,568,423 contracts, an increase of 71,95% compared to the
same period in 1997.
