Dave,

I appreciate your post, and still wish to defend any of your rights that you feel have been usurped by the Republicans.

You must have some personal knowledge of someones "trampled rights", or you would not have posted your message.

All I am asking you for is specific instances where you, or your friends, rights have been "trampeled" by the Republicans.

Now, when the issue turns to abortion, I think the issue is as much a moral issue as it is a political and monetary issue. Who pays for the abortion? Who pays for the child born to an unwed and welfare mother?

Please advise of any personal experiences of your "trampled rights".

Phil

>> I'm not gay...but I don't think the GOP has the right...under the guise of family values...to condem them. <<

Who says that Republicans want to condemn gay people? We just don't believe they deserve preferential treatment.

>> I'm never going to get pregnant...but I don't think the GOP has the right to decide if a woman can have an abortion. Its a personal issue that should never have become a political issue. <<

I take it you are for the legalization of ALL illicit drugs as well. And you are in favor of legalizing prostitution? After all, if you don't think the govt has the right to tell a woman what she can or can't do with her body, then you shouldn't care that I want to shoot up heroin and then go get laid down on the street corner. After all, it's MY body, right?

>> The fanatics of the far right remind me of Hitler...when he condemed the Jews...it didn't matter to most...as long as you weren't Jewish. <<

Well I guess that depends on what you consider a fanatic. You sound tilted to left far enough that you would consider Newt Gingrich a fanatic. Or perhaps Bob Dornan, or maybe Alan Keyes. If your comparing any of those people to Hitler, you are thinking irrationally and need to seek professional help IMO.

>> The "far right" feels they have the right...to decide what is best for all..as long as you agree with their thinking...I guess they're fine. <<

Not true. But even if the far right did feel they had the right, I can cite you just as many examples where bleeding heart liberals think they have the right to decide what's best for me. How are they any different??

>> I just don't see the need to base morality with religous convictions. <<

I don't base my right wing views on religious convictions, so your stereotyping.

>> I guess I'm just an ultra-liberal republican. <<

You don't sound like a Republican to me.
