Maureen Allyn not withstanding, I think I would take the word of Roy Jastram(*) who researched deflationary periods for the last 416 years and found that gold has gained value during every deflationary period, and lost value during every inflationary period.

That does fly in the face of common knowledge.

On the other hand, what does one expect from an economist for a mutual fund company like good old Maureen, except to be hawking stocks as the cure all for every environment?

Shameless.

Note that the length of the deflationary periods mentioned by her are between 60 and 100 years. That's one reason I believe that at less than 20 years, this one is in no danger of ending any time soon.

Yet, I'm more than happy to be a recent PM convert!
