Own vs. Rent.. Anal-ysts say, "people like to own rather than rent." Is that a genetic thing or a techno/economic limitation upon EDS? These idiots ought to rent some imagination; they certainly don't own any. How does Blockbuster make it? The gaming industry knows that if you're not on the Net you're dead. Guess what? Gaming sites are going to offer subscriptions to their CyberSpace. "Kids," can pay for the time they "use the phone" rather than HAVE TO BUY AND OWN EVERY game they no longer enjoy as the version is defunct and daddy has to pick up the upgrade. Libraries of Data Services might find it convenient (like the public library we don't personally own) to make themselves accessible with smart-cards and smart-chip enabled devices... Processing charges only for what "digital people" utilize - let's say, a half hour portion of streaming visual/audio instruction or entertainment that you wish to review or sample or whatever. Do you know how many people willingly PAY to see the same, stupid movie over and over again - without ever "owning" the damn thing? BOY! If WAVX can only lock onto the revenue generating potential of that rodent-brained behavior! Think of all the media that people subscribe to and pay for without "owning" it for more than a day just to "keep up on things." They pay for its delivery and then they pay to recycle the crap too. Oh! The price of OWNERSHIP! Interesting, isn't it? The anal-ysts saying we like to naturally own all the information we might access expect us to pay for their printed-on-recycled-paper opinions and then throw the paper away. Why? Maybe the FCC should force the media moguls to grant us copyright ownership to every movie or broadcast clip we see and hear... just for watching it. You saw it, it's yours! But Noooo. It's THEIRS! And if you want to see it again, you'll have to RENT it again or buy a reprint... If the price of renting, maintaining and insuring any vehicle you want becomes less than the price of "owning" one, what will you do? If the rent to access entertainment and educational information is cheaper than owning it, what will you do? Tell me if I'm missing something here, Marty
