Chip, if you read the whole article, you'll see that there's enough weasal words from Creative that they could launch a buyout today and still be within the parameters that the CL spokesperson laid out.

"In answer to the key question of whether Creative intends to buy-out 3Dfx, Danforth was again careful with the words he used: "I have to speak as a lawyer on this. When Creative filed the acquisition of stock in 3Dfx, there was a reasonably wide-ranging statement contained within the document explaining Creative's reasons and motives to some extent. That is genuinely all there is to say on the matter right now.""

The only interesting tidbit I saw in the whole article is where he mentions that they've made an investment in nVidia as well.

The best part of the article is where CL strongly says that they view 3dfx as being undervalued. I've made this point before, but consider that one of 3dfx's large customers who has a much better idea than the public of exactly what 3dfx's next chipset will be plus what OEM's really think of Banshee bought 6% of the company.
