Hi Arthur,

Wow! small world. I lived in Merrick Long Island with my parents as well! Used to live on Clubhouse Road on the water. We, my brothers and I used to actually swim over to the other side about 1/2 mile to what was then a peninsula with wild ducks and one of the very best clam beds on Long Island. Now its a golf course.

My dog's name was Midnight, an old black mutt that looked like a lab but was a mix of some kind. She was a mix of pure love, loyalty and super trust. She was 18 years old when I finally turned her over to the Vet. I tried to use whatever I knew that worked with humans on her to further prolong her life. But in the end, she simply wasn't making it. I kept her out of pain as best as I could, but it became obvious to my wife and children that it was hopeless and I had to let go.

So with a great deal of reluctance, I left her with the Vet. He offered to have me witness her assisted death but I simply could not. With tears in my eyes I walked out feeling Midnight's trusting and loving eyes follow me out of the room. I never looked back.

Regards,

QT
