Mr K., speaking as a card-carrying member of the "intelligentsia of the left,' I must say I feel more than a little offended by your asssumption that I (like other members of this apparently disreputable body) am fueled by an "everything-is-OK moral culture" and by expectations of a constant helping hand from Washington.

I know you do not intend this personally, but do bear in mind that some of the people who read the Borkish generalizations so freely tossed around on this thread will take it personally. (Even Bork, by the way, starts out by making a distinction between "traditional" liberals and "modern" liberals, a distinction he later forgets, in the heat of argument, shall we say.)

As for your "liberal media" plot, you might take a look at an article I posted earlier to this thread. The title is "The Illiberal Media":

Mr K, I couldn't agree more. They should go after the left on education with a relentless fervor. How anyone can defend an education establishment which supports such a high rate of illiteracy is beyond belief! Charter schools and Vouchers should be talked about by Republicans until they are blue in the face! Make the Democrats vote down school reform legislation. Make the President veto it! Then run add after add showing inner city schools which have been helped by real school reform. If the Republicans want to win more of the minority vote, there's a simple way...Educate their children! Then and only then will the adults understand which party cares about children, and which one cares about the status-quo of ignorance.

The Democratic party is so dependant on special interest money from the NEA it's pathetic. Showing this relationship and how it's destroying the American education system should be easy!
