Phil, society must place limits on choices when there is legitimate conflict between the choices of different people. My insurance rates and tax rates are increased by the choice of others to smoke, I would like to stop paying for their bad choices. Ones choice to fire a lethal weapon can kill others, I would like to choose for that weapon not to exist.

Everyone can not be granted every freedom of choice they desire. Perhaps Bill Clinton would like to choose your daughter, should he have that freedom? Of course not. Society must place reasonable limits on a person's choices. Where those limits should be placed is a matter of great debate.
