Doughboy: How right you are. We have all become so inured to "shocking" news it doesn't shock us anymore. It's sort of like pornography. When one first sees it, it's a shock to the system since it's so out of the ordinary. Eventually one wants even more to maintain the same level of titillation to where nothing reaches the level of "shocking" any more. I think this is why people become more and more callous and cynical as the level of mass stimulation to what was once shocking takes its toll. The age of innocence is gone. Many would argue this is good but I'm not so sure.
