STRX

According to company web site, earnings out Nov 12th. Stock seems stuck at $15, but unusually heavy Call option activity today? Any thoughts on picking this one up for a couple of days or through earnings?

GAP downs. (Twice in RCOT).. How to play gap downs by "bending the rules" for maximum profit
usually they tell you best way to buy a gap down stock is put a buy stock a few ticks above yesterday's low.. But for RCOT and others like it I would have had to wait for 21 3/4 and that would be ridiculous.. when the stock was so low now. So I saw the 1 point move and got in at market about 7 minutes after the open.

In the event of bad news on a stock (like stopping a drug trial, bad earnings report, cancellation of mergers, contracts, etc)... It's important to look at the general market trend the day of the gap.

What I like to do is every evening about 10:00 p.m I look at all the companies that reported earnings. And look at headlines for anything really import that could effect a company..

If one stands out in particular with bad earnings or warning of any kind, I watch it the next morning very carefully. This works for companies that previously have been fairly strong and consistent earners... They gap down in the early morning and could rebound either the same day or the next. I've played WAC, SFSK, CBTSY, like that very recently.. QCOM could have been played like that yesterday.

When you buy on these you usually put in a stop loss but I like to put in a trailing stop loss so I can check and recheck every 5 minutes or so. You can place a "buy stop" stock with the 'better' discount brokers. I did not use one with RCOT for first entry.

At end of first 10 minutes to 1 hour..I look at the current price in relation to the opening price. Most times I don't move quickly enough and miss an extra point, but RCOT reminded me of SFSK and that factor influenced me. Another factor was the RCOT message board on AOL last night. I usually look athe message boards on AOL after I read a bad report that I know is impending doom for the stock. RCOT posters was saying it could be a buying opportunity and some were in at the open already.

After only 5-6 minutes RCOT was about 1 point higher so I went in at Market. Put in a stop loss at 16 3/8.. After getting out I put in another 'buy stop' at at 19 7/16.. RCOT just hit that and I'm in again
