It is merely familiarity with the stock. If you could come up with a price/volume history, you would note that the stock starts moving BEFORE a release on each of the past spikes. Volume rises...price rises in a space of 24-48 hours on no news. Look at the weekly chart and note the rise this week and then note the time on the release. Leaky, I assume.

I think the upside risk on GERN has diminished. Most of today's 32 million volume has traded above the current mid 18s price. There's a lot of long speculator's who are losing now, and would like to sell of they can break even, so there's plenty of resistance above.
