ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Nov 6 (Reuters) - Buycomp.com, the largest Internet computer retailer, said Friday it had secured a $40 million investment from Japanese Internet investment powerhouse Softbank Holdings.

The investment, which gives Softbank a 9.9 percent ownership interest in Buycomp.com, was finalized September 30.

In August, Softbank Technology Ventures, an affiliate of Softbank, provided an initial and separate investment of $20 million in Buycomp.com, representing at that time a 10.25 percent ownership interest.

The company said in a statement that the investments will be used to expand its business model to new online markets.

"With its strong leadership and aggressive growth plan, Buycomp.com has been able to establish itself as a leader in high-quality, high-service online computer distribution," Softbank said in a statement. "Buycomp.com's record of growth, coupled with our expertise in creating online business successes, is a powerful combination that we feel will result in one of the best online superstores in the industry."

Scott Blum, Buycomp.com chief executive, said in a statement, "The backing from Softbank represents a powerful financial as well as business partnership for Buycomp.com."

Softbank is the holding company for all of Softbank Corp.'s <9984.T> U.S.-based activities. Softbank is the largest shareholder of Yahoo! Inc. <YHOO.O> and E*Trade Group Inc. <EGRP.O>.

Anybody have any indication why many of the search engines like YHOO seem to have stopped adding pages for the last few weeks? Or if they are adding pages, they are doing so very selectively. I create websites and I submitted my newest one to Altavista, Yhoo, Infoseek, Excite, and Lycos. I havne't seen it listed in one of 'em. Usually, I get at least 3/5 within a week or so.

To see an example of this, do a search for any celebrity and try finding a "new" link icon.
