Hey Michelle, What is your take on the Henry Hyde 81 Questions for Bill Clinton? My personal guess is that all of the pundits have been wrong. The Republicans are so angry now that they are going to try to crush Bill Clinton despite the polls. Consider that the questions are designed to show Bill Clinton in all his lies under oath. Further, the only witness the Committee is going to call is Ken Starr. This will not be a long drawn out affair. The impeachment vote will happen soon. Even though the Republicans will fail to remove him from office with a 2/3 majority vote in the Senate, they fully intend to crush him. It is going to get very interesting soon. -john

You need to go read the agenda for Clinton's Saving Social Security forum. As with HMO Reform and Health Care Reform, he's using the "town hall/Oprah" format as a forum for horror stories with the goal of moving public opinion. I don't know about Ralph Reed. I believe the Republicans want to privatize Social Security. If things were really rational, there would be a credit against Social Security taxes when you deposit money into an IRA, Keogh, or 401(k). Befor 1983, contributions to 401(k)'s used to decrease your income subject to FICA taxes. As a trade-off for the Republicans' IRA program, the Democrats wanted to close this "loophole".

D.C. Area Code Split WASHINGTON, D.C. - Bell Atlantic today announced that the District of Columbia will be getting a new area code. The splitting of the present (215) area code has become a neccessity due to a number shortage. Effective January 1, 1999 the western half of D.C., which includes the White House, will be using the new (666) area code. White House spokesman Joe Lockhart told BNN, "The President is not amused by the new (666) area code. He claims that the change is the result of a vast right-wing religious conspiracy." A spokesman for the local Our Lady of Perpetual Incontinence Baptist Church told BNN, "We had nothing to do with Bell Atlantic's decision to change the White House's area code. However, we stand by that old saying, "If the shoe fits..."
