Ever since Marcus Welby the medical profession has been expected to provide a perfect outcome in every case or else provide employment for the trial bar. Now our job is also to manage costs in order to ensure that investor owned insurance plans are profitable. And in the future we are to be the hurdles (policemen) put between deadbeats and recreational drugs. When, pray tell, will I have time to practice medicine?
