Josef, Christopher Byron didn't do his homework. In an article carried by TheStreet.com today, Christopher Byron states that Go2Net has 23 employees. Not true. An excerpt from Go2Net's September 18, 1998 S-3 filing states that Go2Net has "53 full-time employees and seven independent contractors." We now have more than 70 employees . Christopher Byron could have easily called Go2Net to verify the number of employees before making up a number that suits his negative bias. As a former writer for Go2Net, Christopher knew -- or should have made an effort to find out -- the truth . He deliberately chose to ignore the facts. I would like to see him show a little more maturity and journalistic integrity. The fact that he doesn't bother to do basic research calls into question the whole thesis of his article. I believe there are many SI members who are much more qualified than Christopher Byron to be reporting the news. By Christopher Byron Special to TheStreet.com 11/6/98 11:42 AM ET "The Internet Sucker's Index, on the other hand, includes the likes of Go2Net (GNET:Nasdaq) (23 employees) and numerous other equally forgettable operations, giving jobs to a mere 25,000 people, and producing, with the exception of America Online and eBay (EBAY:Nasdaq), no profits at all." ----------------------------------------------------- From Go2Net's September 18, 1998 S-3 filing "Expansion of Operations and Managing Potential Growth. Since its inception, the Company has grown rapidly and as of June 30, 1998 had 53 full-time employees and seven independent contractors." Jeff Dryer Co-founder Silicon Investor
