There have been free Unixes in the past;
it used to be given away to colleges.
Berkeley Unix, a free Unix, became SunOs.
There have also been PC Unixes, notably SCO
Unix and Xenix, as well as one for the Mac.
I understand Linux is just for PCs, but I could
be wrong.
What Sun offers is the support -- big corporations
don't have the time or resources to hire
programmers to recompile Linux on workstations.

Thanks, Christopher! We also had Linux on home PC at one time.

We took it off because everyone else uses Windows or the MAC. So my husband could not use Linux to correspond with others.

And my husband agrees with you when you say Sun's Unix would not compete with Linux because Linux, a version of Unix, is used mostly on the home PC!

Happy Trading to You!

I believe SUNW's future looks very, very bright!!!!!
