>>> All: Hard to believe this -- but was there a measure in South Carolina that was passed Tuesday that finally legalized inter-racial marriage? <<<

Why I won't live in the south - 32% of the voters opposed the measure - it passed by 68% (At least, those were the early return percentages.) And there is a large black population. So possibly a majority of whites voted against this measure. Astonishing.

I never heard about that one. I guess it wasn't widely reported.

Btw, what was the stand of the defeated Repub. Gubernatorial candidate on this one -- against, or equivocating? (I know for sure it couldn't have been for the legislation).

Wasn't this the Repub. who was defeated in part because he removed the Confederate flag from the capital?

That is hard to believe. But did you hear about an interesting resolution in Maine on Tuesday? This one would have banned mowing one's lawn topless. Seems there was a rash of soccer moms baring all last summer as they sweated out their lawn care.

The resolution failed.

Someone needs to relieve you of your conviction that Republicans have the market corned on racism. Go visit you democratic friends at the afl-cio or the teamsters, then add up all the blacks in the membership over the years.
