Joe, When I have a choice, I digress to Perl and IDL which is the s... Joe I work at a univeristy, trust me I know all about IDL.. (and let me tell you I don't like it that much.. but it's nothing I can put my finger on, just don't like it).. As for Fortran, there is a language that is dead come the new C draft (which includes support for complex numbers, FINALLY!). C++ is great.. it really does increase efficiency when it comes to coding things.. also, the object oriented approach lends itself to very clean source code. Steve
