Jeff, that is from the top down, they have small communities of capitalistic communes, run by individual army officers, which are singular in their determination to provide a product. I do not consider China one monolithic nation, but a nation of small production facilities. Also China is efficient in their use of the environment, products, and personell. Our model is not the only model, and I even think it is not the best model, but a very good one. Can China prosper with capitalism at every inch of its fiber without disintegrating into those smaller parts? Also east and west are very different nations. The east is industrial, the west rural, but the underlying strength of its people has endured much longer than a our nation. Remember we have only been around a few hundred years, they have survived over the centuries and created many products that have stood the test of time.
