Oracle 8 running on Linux makes a pretty impressive back end for SAP or any other app which needs big database support. The digital rendering for Titanic was done on Alpha workstations, but not running DEC Unix - they were running Linux. Why? It was a big workstation farm and Linux did as good a job on performance at a much lower cost. Linux is a pretty good server OS - small and efficient with good connectivity, thanks to the long history of Unix development in that area.
