Oh I agree.. I never said the POSIX implementation was good for all that much, other than an easy port of VI and Perl, but it's there. The FS is fully POSIX compliant.. has been since it was rolled out.

As for writing a POSIX app, the reason is like I said a quick port of something to command line NT.. ;-)

The main thing to ask; does anybody take POSIX seriously? I
really doubt it (IMO). Seems like even the textbooks aren't
selling. Why bother with another UNIX flavor of the month
is my attitude.

Also, from the rest of your post POSIX has big weakness. I
gather it's because, a) POSIX was not accepted that well in
the community and wasn't allowed to fully develop, b) It
hasn't been kept up to date because of lack of interest,
c) if it's gov't controlled it will surely be a failure<g>

Probably, tons of othe reasons...
