Actually, this is the EXACT reason that AMD has failed miserably and generated huge losses quarter after quarter (with a few tiny profitable quarters sprinkled in between when they were filling the channels with their latest chip). Their failed strategy has been to try "challenge Intel on a head-to-head basis". Jerry claimed years ago that AMD was going to be the next Intel. Instead of taking a tactful subtle approach, he literally went up to the industry giant and said...you want to fight you big oaf!
