Semi2000,

During the 1H99, AMEX will introduce a SPDR like vehicle for the Nasdaq 100 which will probably trade under the ticker NDX. Also, AMEX already has MDY which is the S&P Midcap index. The TSE has TIP which is patterned after the TSE 35 (lot of Banks and Communications companies) and HIP which is the TSE 100. By the end of this Century, the fund companies will have to perform as well for their clients as their sales force or lose market share, IMHO.

FWIW,
Ian.

P.S. Does anyone know where I can buy some IMHO and FWIW? <vbg>

I don't expect any index trading for SOX. It's too small a sector. If I'm not mistaken, index trading for even the big boys only started recently. I wouldn't trade it, but it would be interesting to see the degree of discount.

You'd have to find a mutual fund, and personally, I'd rather do it myself.
