limtex:

[Damn the lithium - no moderate liver you - I bet you are a lot of fun at parties <g>]

And I agree with your thesis.

<...Someone is going to bid for WCII and whoever were to get it the other sisters above would be jealous as hell and really upset at having missed their great hope....>

The sweet thing is, whoever DOES volley a first bid on WCII initiates a MAJOR open auction. Seriously, what telco can afford to NOT have this property? And though I don't see that happening for at least 4-6 months, I DO expect partnerships to form in the near future.

And even though the Q CLEC revenues were disappointing, and SG&A as a percent of revenues is enormous (even relative to other similarly staged CLECs), IMO there is a LOT of reason to be optimistic on WCII currently.

All IMO.

Limtex,
Re John Chambers comments on Thursday, I believe he said that
voice would be essentially free in a packet routing world.
IMO this means that the incremental number of voice packets
would be few in number when compared to the volume of data and video packets being routed over networks.

On Friday there was an interview with the chairman of Teleglobe and
he was asked about this and generally agreed. He added that circuit
switched POTS would still be used in developing countries but that
most developed countries would be sending traffic over packet routing
networks.

Regards, ...Hal

and since I don't often have time to peruse Yahoo, I thought it'd be a nice habit - for ANY SI posters who catch a worthwhile post there - to provide the link to them here:

BTW, I found "Pleasantville" a VERY intriguing, well made movie. Think - "The Truman Show" meets "Wings of Desire" meets "Back to the Future" meets "Alice in Wonderland". OTOH, maybe it'd be easier to just check out the movie.
