I'm very excited! Do you know if it is being televised and what channel? I'll prolly go to the track anyway for the simulcast unless I have to comply with a possible commitment :-(, but even at the commitment, I can at least watch the Classic.

I know U are busy - just posting some of David's post-race comments... Turned out to be a satisfying, sometimes surprising and fairly profitable Breeders Cup. First of all, I did a second round of handicapping... fairly quickly and fortunately abandoned the sleepers I had come up with in the first round (Richter Scale and Arch, both of whom ran up the track)... came up with one entirely new pick (happily, it was Reraise in the Sprint)... and wound up with a fairly conservative betting card. Put the most money on Hawksley Hill across the board. Was absolutely amazed that his odds were so high; it seemed to me just as strongly the second handicapping time around that he lay over the field... which he did -- except for that absolutely astounding race by Da Hoss -- unexplainable except as what may have been the best training job of the century. The place and show prices were good and, going into the stretch, I was all set for a real score on my exacta box of Hawksley Hill and Labeeb, but "dat dere Da Hoss" really gutted it out. With all kinds of failed exotic bets through the first five races counterbalancing the winnings on Reraise and Hawksley Hill, I was just about even going into the last two races. Buck's Boy and Awesome Again gave me my edge for the day (though I did throw away two bucks on a sentimental exacta box including Skip Away). "Poet" was probably right about Skip Away's distaste for the Churchill Downs strip -- since, as it turned out, he had his TWO worst races on that surface -- but what I saw was a tired, possibly hurting and uncharacteristically almost spiritless horse. For four years in which he was just about constantly in training, he was a terrific racehorse; hope he has lots of rest now -- and fun -- at stud.<.i>
