I think so, Ron. Better, like you say, to move on and not expect them to haul the remainder of the region out of the abyss.

Nothing against the Japanese, of course. Just too tall an order.

There are also better investments to be made.

Too, Barton Biggs is not my Pied Piper. Not to detract from Mr. Biggs' abilities as an analyst, I just thought it a bit quick for so many to jump on the Nikkei at what may have been his first, and maybe forced, analysis.

Thanks much for the AFR point-out. I missed it. Of the WestPac media I normally (and at times reluctantly) read my favorite seven every day, but I've been distracted lately w/ some hardback reading. Always good to fall into the books once in a while. Something to do w/ perspective, big picture and all that. One is a re-reading of a favorite -- The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers.
