So you are saying since everything is so statistically iffy, any fudge factor is ok as long as it agrees with your prejudice? :)

I prefer using these highly irregular numbers as they fit my twisted sense of economics.

average gold ore tonnage factor: 12 cu feet per short ton.

one cubic metre = 35.31 cu feet or 2.94 SHORT tons.

one cubic metre of seawater = one metric ton.

AVG SG of gold ore = 2.65

AVG mass of one cubic metre gold ore = 2.65 metric tonnes

Conversion factor ounces per short ton from grams per tonne = multiply by .029167.

Conversion factor short tons from metric = multiply by .9074

Avg cost to find gold in situ = 4 dollars per ounce.

AVG cost to develop an underground mine per ounce = $50.00

AVG cost to develop an open pit heap leach mine per ounce $25.00
