TLC, with all due respect, I must take exception to your rant.

Yes, there are plenty of bad shrinks, but there are many times more wonderful ones. Yes, medicines are overused often, but that is true of all branches of medicine. You'd be quite surprised just how many millions of people have been helped with the medicines you decry so. (They haven't helped me, unfortunately)<g> But, really, your indictment is unfair. Yes, many I've met are kinda weird, but insane, no, I don't think so. How many have you met? Remember, it takes a special kind of person to devote themselves to listening to only troubled people, and only hearing negative aspects of people's lives. Some of those special people are troubled themselves, just as a percentage of us are troubled, but to brand them all scoundrels is unfair. And remember also, that the profession shares the top spot in the rate of suicide by its members.

I agree that meds have too often become a tool to control misbehaving kids, and that is wrong. It is also true that they have been used to sedate and not treat many others with varying troubles. But again, you'd be surprised at the good that the mental health profession does and has done. Much is needed to change things, and your attitude is good to spread the word, but please don't smear ALL of them.

BAWK!
