Clinton Ain't Black

Recently, black celebrities and politicians have been attempting to defend President Clinton by claiming that he is the first black President. Their grounds for making this claim are what they consider to be an unjust attempt by authorities to bring down an innocent man. If President Clinton were an innocent man then their analogy may carry some water. But since the President is far from innocent, then a new analogy may be more appropriate.

The injustice that blacks have suffered in this country is indisputable. Stories of black people being harassed by police for 'simply being black' are still far too common. If the President were being harassed by Ken Starr and the Republicans for simply being a Democrat President, then it could be argued that he is the victim of a similar injustice. The injustice would be akin to 'political prejudice' or 'partisan racism'.

However, Clinton is being investigated for breaking the law, namely perjury and abuse of power. This makes it wrong and inappropriate to say that he is the first black president. Saying that Clinton is black in this particular case is an insult to every African-American in the country because it implies that they all are a bunch of lying criminals who deserve to be harassed by the authorities. Since my black friends are not lying criminals I refuse to believe that black people in general can or should be categorized in this way.

Who, then, is President Clinton like? Clinton is more like an illegal alien. By definition all illegal aliens are criminals because they have broken the law in order to get into the U.S. Therefore, the harassment they suffer at the hands of the INS and police is their own fault. They brought it on themselves by breaking the law. In this same way President Clinton brought the Ken Starr investigation on himself by first breaking the law. Therefore, President Clinton is the first Illegal-Alien President. Maybe it's time to have him deported back to Arkansas.
