Passive Vs Active avocation.

scott: In my opinion the PC is more likely to become a surrogate TV of sorts than the TV turning in to a substitute PC. All we lack to accomplish this,I think, is high speed internet connection or bandwidth or whatever, which is about to change in a couple of years.

Having said that I am sure there will be a market for a TV/PC thing just for surfing the net but I don't think a TV will seriously challenge the PC in any shape or form. Also remember the low % of PC ownership is changing very fast as we speak both here and abroad, there is no reason why the PC can not be a mass medium as we venture in to the new millennium. Just some random thoughts.

PS: That Active/Passive bit is not really mine,it was an observation made by one of the executives (in a recent interview which I posted here a while ago) from Phillips NV who is heavily in to these things.
