Good advice! I put a buy order in for GERN at 19 and I didn't get confirmation right away, i figured it was tough getting shares. This was a warning sign. I cancelled my order right away and stopped playing with GERN, I figured 125% on one stock in a day is good enough!

What happens is you get confirmation at some ridiculous price 5 minutes later and the stock is already 1 or 2 points below the purchase price. Then you put an order in to sell and you get the lowest price and by that time the stock is 2 or 3 points above your original purchase price. Silly trading.

I like trading stocks that execute orders immediately, kindof like CMGI. Haven't traded that in awhile, is there still shares to short and do you still get immediate confirmations, Joe?

<Since we're all offering advice this weekend; I have a couple tidbits for novices>

There's a lot of high fivin' on this thread and rightly so, GERN was a major score.

Can I throw in my two cents, even though I never post on this thread?

Take some of that GERN money, which was after all a gift, and share it.

Things are totally fucked up in Central America after the hurricane, in Russia after the cold war. Kids need food, and a lot of you suddenly have a lot more money than you ever expected to have on Thursday. A call to the Red Cross at 1-800-HELPNOW can let you feel good about what you're doing with the gift, as oppossed to just feeling good about the trade.

Thanks, won't bother you again.

Jay

Yes, one should enter any trade with a limit of what they will pay
a target price at which you will take profit
a target price at which you stop out,

If you don't know that ahead of time, Why are you in the trade ?

good post btw
