Certainly the enormous rally in '95-'98 started to the day after Newt's Republican Congress swept in (Nov. '94). With the Republicans controlling the Congress, the budget got balanced and long term bond rate sank to below 6%. Now with Republicans weakened we could very well see those advances rolled back.
