Whether the current 'meltup' is a bear market rally or the beginning of a new bull market cycle depends on where the market would be 6-9 months from now. Would DJIA be above 10,000 or below 7,000 in mid-1999? That in turn should firmly depend on the company earnings next year. Here is one article indicating why things may not be so rosy next year (and how analysts may be overly optimistic).
