The sheik prefers execution or stoning to death. Maybe they'll give dettori a choice.

Colonial opened two years ago in Virginia between Richmond and Williamsburg in no man's land. you'd think a track--the first ever in horse-loving Va--would make it. BUT many miscalculations. First was they thought they would win referrendums for OTBs in populated areas. Key towns rejected at the ballot. For survival they needed OTBS. Area is baptist country and no history of betting. Handle averaged less than $70 a head. But young people don't play the horses anymore. Track was beautifully designed for low maintenance and today's smaller crowds. Beautiful brick colonial architecture.

There's been some interesting action on the stock. As I recall, it dropped to about 5/8 or lower a few weeks ago and suddenly traded about million shares, doubled and dipped again. Hard to say whether an outsider is accumulating without reporting ownership of more than five per cent or the present ownership is protecting itself from a raider. I've been tempted to trade it for an l/8 or so but have resisted the temptation. Present owner, a long-time trackman, mulling bankruptcy says he'll decide in a few weeks. track is bleeding money. There's much more than that, but that's it in a nutshell.

Best regards and back to work. If I don't finish this project, I'll be executed.
