Study finds growing interest in ERP and operations software

manufacturing.net

"A new survey of supply chain practices has found that approximately 80 percent of manufacturers will launch a major supply chain initiative in the next year. The Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group canvassed about 200 North American manufacturers and distributors, predominantly large companies. More than 46 percent of the survey respondents reported revenues exceeding $1 billion, and more than 54 percent of the respondents have more than 2,500 employees."

"As part of their strategy to upgrade information systems, many of those surveyed said they planned to install an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which typically provides an information "backbone" for a corporation's diverse operations. Some 63 percent of respondents said they would choose SAP's software. Oracle was the second most-preferred provider, followed by JD Edwards, Baan, and SSA-BPICS."
