No one needs to be put out of business. Those built on the inflexible "sure thing" will have the hardest time changing from the technologies of the past. The biggest threat is to the networking companies, CSCO, NT, COMS, ASND, etc. Ethernet is headed for extinction. The direct beneficiaries are carriers, both telephone and fiber optic, like RBOCs, QWST, LVLT, and of course last mile fiber oriented companies like cable or multimedia companies. The deeper the dependence on high throughput which has been a disadvantage, the better positioned a company will be. We will be discussing this in greater detail.
