My take on CMPC ... I don't know if CMPC is going to win me this month's Rev. Shark contest, (the last four days of last month, I would have had a shot) but it is acting rather strongly under unusual circumstances ... On Thursday, I thought I had a major loser on my hands before the open when a press release stated that CMPC was going to take a 25 million restructuring charge and close down 50 nationwide offices and become a "virtual IS company." Last year for this quarter, they did .26 cents, and this quarter was .08 cents, a HUGE difference ... I was prepared to sell all at the open and cash in on my profits from 2.75 and up but before I did I checked the pre-market action ... and found out it was only down a 1/4, so I held off the sell button...., and once the Labor Department's booboo stabilized the markets, I went off to work, unaware that Mr. Greenspan had given an ego boost to the Dow .... Also, at 3:30 on Thursday, there was a CMPC conference call to discuss the restructuring charge and the virtual office concept.... the stock ended up 1/8 at 5. I missed the CC, and called yesterday to listen in but was told there was no replay... I will call the company shortly to see if I can get a listen ... but there is some serious support to this stock when it had every reason to tank big time .... I'm very curious as to the workability of their total commitment to the virtual office scenario and doing away completely with the standard american business "brick and mortar" philosophy in terms of owning, paying, renting for company real estate . I'm guessing this is very much a move towards the future that many IS service companies will probably commit to shortly ... another indication of the power of the Internet ... the move initially scared me off, but now I'm beginning to turn and appreciate the boldness of their move ... is any one aware of similar nationwide businesses going completely online like this? I thought I'd share my thoughts ... with the technicals looking pretty good on the charts, on any dips, I'll be adding to my position here ... biff CMPC - COMPUCOM SYSTEMS Exchange: NASDAQ Delay: at least 15 minutes Last Price: 4 15/16 at 16:14 EST Change: Down 1/16 (-1.25%) High: 5 1/4 at 9:45 EST Low: 4 29/32 at 16:12 EST Open: 5 1/8 Previous Close: 5 on 11/5 Volume: 448,100 30-Day Avg.
