Michael, the reason you did not get the answers you want is that you did not put the question right. You asked for a "Democratic Party Vision of the future", when you should have been asking about each individual's vision of the future. After all, the people posting to this thread are individuals, not party reps.

I have never spent so much as a single minute on this thread denouncing the Republicans, Ken Starr, Newt Gingrich, or anyone else.

And no, I do not support your agenda, as listed in questions 1-7, although item 7) looks appealing, and some of the others might. (For example, reduce spending on what? Reducing spending just for the sake of reducing spending makes little sense to me.) If item 5 means PBA, then I am with you.

But to be perfectly honest with you, your list to me does not add up to a "vision of the future", either. Looks more like a 1998 election platform. And no foreign policy there at all, tsk, tsk.

Michael, You conveniently [or not ] left out some key questions that you know you would not get the answers that you want.Other key questions you colored in a way to get the answer you wanted. What about the environment Mike? Is important no? Abortion period where do Republicans stand on this? Main stream? Not hardly.PBA how about if the mother's physical health is at stake? Should we reduce spending ? On what the military? Social programs? Reduce taxes on who ?The devil's in the details Mike and you know it . How about Monica gate ? Should we pass term limits ? No!These are the reasons I voted Democratic this time .

1. Do you think we should reduce taxes?
yes
2. Do you think we should reduce spending?
yes
2. Do you think we should move toward privatizing the social security system?
yes
3. Do you think we should push for a balanced budget amendment?
yes
4. Do you think we should pass term limits?
no
5. Do you think we should ban abortions during birth?
no
6. Do you think we should reform our school system and allow more charter schools or vouchers?
yes
7. Do you think we should end corporate welfare?
yes

Do these answers make me a 3/4 Republican? Let me give you eight more questions and my answers.

1. Should there be organized prayer in public schools?
no
2. Should there be a constitutional ban on flag burning?
no
3. Should voluntary euthanasia and medicinal use of controlled substances remain criminal acts?
no
4. Should consensual sexual activity of any sort between adults be subject to persecution?
no
5. Should the government pursue real crime and stop prosecuting successful corporations and businesses?
yes
6. Should rules and regulations that stifle free trade be repealed?
yes
7. Should environmental concerns be totally ignored in the course of development and growth?
no
8. Should the lifestyle choices and moral values of the majority be imposed by law on minorities who disagree?
no

Do these answers make me 3/4 a Democrat? There is far to much diversity of opinion extant in society to neatly box and catagorize the electorate into "conservative" or "liberal" camps. I personally don't like the socialist, government-as-nanny leanings of the Democratic left or the theocratic social agenda of the Republican religious right. I suspect there are many others who share this view.

Regards, JB
