Sure don't know what you are talking about here ed. Real player, in a number of versions, worked fine on Win 95 until about the time MSFT invested in VXtreme.

As far as letting MSFT see your products before they hit the market, why should Apple commit suicide?

Normally there would be no reason to suspect that MSFT would do anything in the interim to the OS, DLLs, or API that would break these products.

You act as if MSFT has no responsibility to check it's changes against well established applications to make sure it is not breaking them, for the protection of their customers who run those applications. Of course, as the OS provider, it has - and not incidentally, in that famous compatibility lab and elsewhere - it does.
